Armoire

This dramatic large Amoire was inspired by a suite of furniture for author Dorothy "Dodie" Smith in 1932 by Ambrose Heal. Dodie was a former Heal’s employee and is best known for writing The Hundred and One Dalmatians.

The Armoire is made from Finnish birch plywood, Tulipwood and moisture resistant MDF with solid oak feet.  It has a total of 10 drawers, three large deep blue drawers in the lower cabinet and three smaller ones. Inside the upper cabinet there are four shallow drawers of different widths these are ideal for shoes, jewellery, ties, socks and other small items. All the drawers are fitted on Blum under drawer hidden soft close runners.

The upper cabinet has height adjustable shelves in 24 mm thick birch plywood sitting on chrome shelf pins and all the plywood is finished in a white tinted hard wax oil. The doors are set back from the large bevelled edge detail and are fitted with touch open mechanisms that are tucked under the internal drawers. The dramatic Zig Zag pattern is a raised beading with round profiled edges.

The version shown is hand brushed in Dark Harbour and Goldsmith acrylic based paint by Benjamin Moore. The armoire can be painted in a colour and brand of your choice.
